Hoping you all are well. I’m looking to secure a date for another breakfast toward the end of July just to provide an opportunity for those who are in the area to see one another AND begin discussion our 50th Class Reunion. I’ll post more later and if you’re comfortable in meeting, hope you can make it.

FYI - I also wanted to communicate that I chatted with Don Folk’s sister, Patricia about an obituary for Don and this is what she wrote back:

“Hi Kent. Thank you for your kind words. There is not a link to Don's obituary. After battling metastatic kidney cancer for many years, it was his wish to have a Celebration of Life memorial in place of the traditional funeral. That will be held in Florida when it is safe for family that is scattered all over the US to fly and attend.”

Greetings Classmates -

There will be a gathering of those who are around the Bryan area and available for breakfast Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Seasons on the square in Bryan. Hope you can stop in and visit for a while.

Last month, Bruce Dodds contacted me and we met up for breakfast in Bryan. (You’ll remember that Bruce worked on the Hi-Life staff when we were in school and supplied a bunch of pictures from our high school days that we shared at our 45th class reunion.) Well, Bruce still hung on to many, if not all, of the Hi-Life publications from our 4 years in high school. He gave them to me to hold for a time and I’ll bring them with me to the breakfast to share. Hope to see you there.

Bruce and I never really knew each other through our high school years. We had different interests and our close friends were different. But, it was a pleasant experience to meet up with Bruce after all these years and talk about our families, our work experiences and to get to know him better. I really appreciate his involvement with Hi-Life back in our high school days. Lot's of memories.

 Greetings Classmates –

A small group of us (10) gathered for breakfast Saturday morning last at Seasons in downtown Bryan, just to stay in touch. We will be gathering (just because) periodically and all invited to come if you’re around and able.

In addition to just catching up with each other, we did communicate some ongoing things with those in attendance. Here’s what was shared:

 1.      Our class web site has been renewed and is being updated. You may notice a few additions. In order to renew and continue the web site, there is a cost of around $100 a year. We are asking if you will contribute a small amount, $5 - $10 -$20 or more if you can. (Visit the “Products” page) You may also send a donation via regular mail to either Heidi Mealer, 300Carpenter Road, Defiance, Ohio 43512 OR Jane Tawney, 1001 Willmore Cr., Bryan, Ohio 43506. Also, if you have not added your profile to the web site, you are invited to do so. We encourage those who are part of the web site to share what’s going on with you and yours through your profile so that we can stay abreast of anything you may wish to share and let us know of address changes, phone number and email changes, etc. Again, here’s the link to our web site:  http://bhsclass1971.classquest.com/main/default.aspx?siteid=E212444582

 2.      Heidi Mealer has been in contact with the Bryan Schools administrator concerning a class gift for the Bryan City Schools. Determining what the need(s) of the school and what we might be willing to contribute as a gift has been difficult and a little confusing. We have determined to wait for a while and let things settle in so that we may be better able to determine what we may want to give as a gift to the school. As always, suggestions are appreciated.

 3.      Our next informal breakfast gathering will be in late June. When we secure a place and exact date, we will forward that information.

 4.      We are always looking for addresses, phone numbers, email addresses for those we have not been able to locate. Your help in this area is greatly appreciated.

More later.

Dear classmates –

Two months and counting! That’s the amount of time until the BHS Class of 1971 45th Class Reunion.

If you have indicated that you are coming through our web site, please finalize that indication by purchasing your ticket(s) on the web site. If you are not planning on attending, please visit our web site and give us some information about you (address, email, phone number, family information you may want to share.

The Planning Committee will need to know by September 1st if you plan to attend so that we may order food through the Bryan Moose.

Finding some classmates has proven difficult, but we are making progress.  We truly are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this year’s reunion. Remember – our 50th year reunion is only 5 years away!

May 2, 2016

Hello Classmates –

Just a quick update on our Class Reunion:

We continue making plans for our upcoming 45th BHS Class of 1971 Reunion. The class web site has been updated to reflect that if you have registered and plan to attend, you are asked to purchase tickets to the event (dinner) through the web site. (The web site is secure and you will receive a receipt to your email address.)

Some have you have registered, but are still undecided if you can attend. Of course, we hope you can.  In the meantime, how about leaving some comments about you and yours in your profile? Upload a picture, if you like. If you can’t remember your username and/or password, contact us and we’ll forward you the information.

As we continue planning, we are always looking for classmates addresses. It’s been several years since our last reunion and some have moved. Even though we’ve used all the media services we can think of, we could use your help. If you have kept in touch with some classmates over the years, please forward any addresses you can share. Email addresses would be great, also! As we get closer to the date of the reunion, we very well may send you a copy of the names and addresses we have so that you may help us find those we are unable to locate.

FYI – Our next Planning Committee meeting will be June 9th. We will again update you following that meeting.

March 11, 2016

Hello Classmates –

Yesterday evening, the BHS Class of 1971 Planning Committee met at the Bryan Moose to further planning for our upcoming 45th class reunion. We have nailed down several details concerning the actual weekend of the event and also communicated that our class has an active account with $346.19 on hand. The web site is beginning to draw more attention and activity. Very soon, a couple of new pages will be added: a “Story” page for anyone to share anything that they might want and also a “Guest” page for those who are not of the Class of 1971 who may want to just sign in and share. This web site will always be there and should serve to be a great help with our 50th class reunion – not to mention being a vehicle to help keep us in touch with each other.

The “big” focus is now on locating classmates and finding their last-best addresses. Phone numbers and email addresses will be a big help, also. We will soon make an announcement of our plans for the upcoming reunion with a plea for information about our classmates through the Bryan Times and the Defiance Crescent News. We continue to use our Facebook page “Bryan High School Class of 1971”.
